1980's
In 1983 two professional engineers; A.W. Wright III and Francis E. Glenn, Jr., both with experience and expertise in the design of material handling systems and structural engineering, joined together to form Glenn & Wright, Inc. The Company was formed and incorporated on July 22, 1983 and is domiciled in the State of Alabama. In the early years Mr. Wright and Mr. Glenn focused on providing their services to the foundry industry, with specific emphasis on molding and casting systems for the automotive and other related industries. Initially, the Company primarily offered its customers design, engineering and construction services, but in just a few short years the Company realized it could best serve its customers by providing them with the manufacture of the systems it designed. In September of 1985 the Company entered the manufacturing business and built its manufacturing facility in Birmingham, Alabama. Headquartered in this facility the Company has been providing its customers with quality manufacturing of its designed material handling systems ever since.
1990's
As the Company grew, it introduced its capabilities to other industries and began to diversify its industry expertise. By the mid 1990’s the Company was providing design-build services to the lime industry, chemical products industry, feed manufacturing industry, cement industry, wood products industry, aggregates industry and other industries which needed innovative bulk material handling solutions. Its full service industrial design-build capabilities had then expanded to include design, engineering, manufacturing and construction.
To establish a brand name more closely linked to the Company’s expanded capabilities, the Company established its trade name of GW Systems in August of 1997 and became known by its customers and industry peers as GW Systems.
2000's
Today, after more than 25 years of service, GW Systems continues to offer custom design-build bulk material handling solutions to a diverse group of industries. It continues to provide the quality design, engineering, manufacturing and construction services which its founders envisioned and is widely known and respected by industry professionals throughout the United States.
